Riyadh Shopping
Souks (markets) sell incense and holders, jewelry, bronze and brassware, richly decorated daggers and swords, and in the Eastern Province, huge brass-bonded chests. Bargaining is often expected, even for modern goods such as cameras and electrical equipment (which can be very good value).
Shopping hours Sat-Thurs 0900-1300 and 1630-2000 (Ramadan 2000-0100). These hours differ in various parts of the country.
Given that there is no sales tax in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh can be a luxury shopper's paradise. Especially given that a number of high-end shops can be found within the city's shopping district. Riyadh's shopping district is found on Olaya Street. The two major shopping malls are found in the city's two tallest towers. The Mamlaka Mall is located in the Kingdom Tower. The mall is three stories tall; the second level is for women shoppers only, and all personnel on the floor are female as well. Retailers at the Mamlaka Mall include Debenhams, Saks Fifth Avenue, Marks & Spencers, Esprit, Benetton, Givenchy, and Aldo, among others. In the Al Faisalah Mall, located in Al Faisalah Center, you will find Harvey Nichols, another Benetton, Next, and DKNY, among others.
