ABOUT RIYADH AIRPORT, SAUDI ARABIARiyadh King Khaled International Airport (RUH) is situated 35km (22 miles) north of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. All of the terminals are housed within the same building, connected by linking buildings. Travelators connect the International and Domestic terminals.
Taxis are the only mode of public transport available to/from the airport and must be paid for in advance. Authorized taxis marked with the airport logo are available 24 hours a day to the city centre (journey time - 30 minutes). By law, taxis must have a meter and passengers should check this before setting off.
There are two large three-level garages that are located directly in front of the passenger terminals, one on either side of the airport mosque, with capacity for over 11,000 vehicles; they are connected to the terminals and to the mosque by pedestrian walkways.
There are restaurants, snack bars and cafes throughout the airport, available 24 hours in both Domestic and International terminals. There are no bars (alcohol is illegal in Saudi Arabia).
Riyadh is the capital of Saudi Arabia, with over 4 million inhabitants, situated in the very interior of the country, 300 km from the Persian Gulf, and 900 km from the Red Sea.
Originally Riyadh was located along a green river bed, which in addition to sources of underground water allowed a rich agriculture. With extreme expansion in the area, all natural water has long since been allocated for domestic use and in industries.
The economy of Riyadh is connected to national administration, financial activities and other services. Industries include food processing, an oil refinery and chemical and plastics factories |
